The new UMACC web portal achieves a variety of communications objectives: With so much valuable information to share, the original site had become "text heavy" and lacked a clear identity. The new visual identity captures the unique combination of research, training, and clinical service appealing to both international scholars as well as families who receive clinical services. The warmth of clinical services and commitment to fostering social connection is emphasized through original photography featuring UMACC families (who volunteered to have their photos featured.)
The site's navigational structure was planned based on consultation with Department personnel and allows easy expansion of content on the site. The portal features information of interest to a variety of audiences from researchers and clinicians to students, volunteers, and others interested in giving to the center. Events, workshops, and research studies can be easily updated by the center's own non-technical staff.
